Can confirm it. I’m sure this is…again…an Oreo+ issue.

Indeed, this is yet another security measure enforced by the system.

This really starts to be boring.

If you need help with all the new permission settings and shit (Google has changed a lot.) I’d recommend messaging Joaomgcd. The developer of the auto apps series, and now Tasker since he was asked to take it over.

He’s recently updated a lot of stuff to work with the new permission system, and other changes introduced/enforced in the newer Android versions. I’m sure he’d be more than happy to lend a hand, he’s a cool dude.

Just please don’t get discouraged by all the changes and new shit you may have to learn. LL is easily the most flexible Launcher around. I believe some people have moved to Nova due to your absence and the fact that it’s easier to use. I believe users will come back now that you’re active again.

LL is indeed rather intimidating, because it simply throws it all at you. Some people don’t need to delve as deep as others. Perhaps all LL needs to bring in a ton of new people…is an easy/beginner mode. Ironically, Tasker just recently removed the beginner mode.

I love the shit out of LL, I don’t believe anything could replace it when you consider all the features it allows; plus how great it runs.

I agree with James and was using nova before but have given LL another go after having got to grips with tasker and tbh the learning curve is less extreme with LL than tasker … The fact that they work together is amazing and you can do some crazy stuff …. Nova is dead to me .. long live LL.

I don’t know about everyone else but I would have paid twice the asking price for LL if I had half a clue what I could have done with it in the first place. I originally purchased because of having a low ram phone and LL is really lightweight and I was originally overwhelmed by all the options. But I switched back to Nova for literally 5 minutes to copy a layout over and hated every second !

I failed to make LL user friendly. There is a steep learning curve, but also there are many rough edges and counter intuitive behaviors. In contrast Nova is very polished and behaves in a predictable manner. This is a good app, its success is justified.

I must admit that I don’t know how to make LL more accessible. I don’t believe in a beginner mode, I fear it would make the app even less understandable.

Don’t worry Pierre, Lightning launcher is amazing. Maybe you could just add a simplified layout (like a pixel launcher style template) for people who panic with too many options, this would make lightning more accessible to more people the simple layout would be default? Then they could play around at their leisure. πŸ™‚

Thanks for the amazing launcher πŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ™‚

really good idea^ I remember there being some sort of contest for the default layout but nothing ever came of it.
