Another feature request that I hope I haven’t overlooked; the ability to retain styles after restoring backups.

Another feature request that I hope I haven’t overlooked; the ability to retain styles after restoring backups. For example, I have a template from Lutz and if I save any customizations via “Save a Style” if I Apply the template again, it overwrites any customizations I have made. I hope there is a way to save user customizations into a separate area that cant be over written by newly applied templates. Thanks!

Hello all.

Hello all. Long time reader, first time poster… I am still very green to LLX but love it. It ranks up there with Titanium for must have apps. Anyway, after some playing I thought I would post a couple things I would love to see. I apologize if  they are already there and my newbliness kept me from seeing them or if they have already been suggested and shot down.

1) Performing multiple actions for items and gestures.

2) Though the lockscreen is very new, I hope that certain widgets that are automatically loaded once an app is launched can be implemented. One example is the netflix widget.

3) Add a way to just hide the status bar without showing it with the menu button.

Thank you much for your hard work and dedication to the only launcher that gives true freedom to customize the look and functionality of my home screen.

Question

Question

Where is the best place to find some good tutorials on LL? I haven’t really been able to find to much, the developers youtube videos are somewhat helpful, but a little bit fast and not very in depth. Any recommendations?

2 things I am looking to do is: set a wallpaper/background in a way that it is aligned and scaled to take up just part of the screen , add a launch bar/navigation bar along the side or bottom, similar to this:

I just noticed the tutorials category, I will check there as well, but any suggestions would be awesome! Thanks.

I just got an idea for a new unlocker.

I just got an idea for a new unlocker.

How about the LL Logo/icon but when its tapped lightning bolts shoot of it to a few shortcuts and once the screens unlocked or a shortcuts selected the screen flashes kinda like a flash of lightning. Would look great on a dark lockscreen IMO

Lockscreen after a while always reverts to default Android lockscreen.

Lockscreen after a while always reverts to default Android lockscreen.

Nexus 4 with Android 4.4 KitKat by the way.

After setting a desktop as lockscreen in LLx 9.2, I can lock my phone and unlock using the LL lockscreen. But after a while, when I switch on the phone, the default Android lock (that ring-thing) is active again. From this moment on, LL lockscreen does not become active again, until I enter LL settings and once again choose the lockscreen desktop.

According to the statement “in order to use the lock screen with this version, set android security setting to screen lock = swipe” I did so. No PIN or gesture unlock, and certainly not “none”.

Is this a bug, or am I just doing something wrong?

I have “Keep Lightning running” enabled and “Minimize memory usage” disabled. Just in case this might interfer.

Would it be possible to assign an action to screen rotation?

Would it be possible to assign an action to screen rotation? Can this be done via tasker? Just had a bit of a brain storm & wondered if this was possible.

If its not already a feature suggestion i would like to suggest it 🙂 assigning action on rotation of screen.

I am using the APK made by ..?.. for his Nextryk 2.0 homescreen.

Zooper is catching the HEX color codes from tasker.

as you see there is a little delay before its implemented everywhere.

but i am mainly using it for small items

some of the progress bars and items are made by BlacBearBlanc

This is a bit frustrating.

This is a bit frustrating. I want to make a different homescreen, but I can’t because it gives me this wrote whenever I try to make a backup or export to .apk. Both my internal sd and external sd have over 2 gigabytes of spare space

Some thoughts on inheritance for Pierre Hébert

Some thoughts on inheritance for Pierre Hébert

Requirements:

– adding inheritance feature should not break existing desktops/templates

– inheritance however should be active as default for new panels/folders

– settings for items and folder should be inherited from desktop to panels and folders; or generally: from the container a panel/folder is placed within

What to inherit:

–  *”Items”*:

Settings for Text, Icon, Pos., Box; not sure about “+”

“Icon Pack”:

I think one should be able to apply an icon pack at desktop level and ALL icons in panels and folders should use the same icon pack.

“Folder windows”:

Note: Currently these settings can only be set at desktop level, but NOT when customizing a panel or folder.

When adding a folder to a panel, it seems at that moment some (i.e border colors, position; but NOT background color or item settings) current desktop settings are copied, but when changing those at desktop (manually or by loading a style), they are not updated.

This in consequence means, each folder within a folder must later on be configured separately by opening the folder and then changing it’s settings (however, strangely the “Current Folder Window” settings have a “Custom” checkbox in front; but currently the parent settings are nowhere editable).

Suggestions:

An option “Inherit from container” or “Inherit from parent” should be added. When this is enabled, all inherited settings must have the “custom” checkbox. When “inherit” is not enabled, the “custom” checkbox should not be there.

Where to add this option to? To granually define inheritance, it could be added as first option in i.e. “Items” in each tab “Text”, “Icon”, etc. But personally I think one option per panel or folder in the category “Miscellaneous” whould be the sufficient.

What to do, when inheritance is enabled if it was disabled? This is mainly important for “updating” existing setups after inheritance feature is available. I think a confirmation “Keep current settings?” (or inverse “Update current settings?” or “Apply parent settings?”) should pop up.
