Simple question?!
When I add a folder to my desktop and then long press to add items they all end up stacked on top of each other. Is this me or is it normal llx behavior?
]]>Christmas and the New Year Day are already behind us…
I might be a bit late, but I nevertheless wish you all an Happy New Year !
Now it’s time to get back to work 😉 And I would like to share my plans regarding Lightning Launcher. There are tons of things to improve. I won’t list them all here, but a few big things are standing out.
Bug fixing
As usual. A rather long list of bugs have been collected since the last release and they need to be fixed.
Add scripting to the app
This would allow… everything ? Maybe not, but surely a lot of elaborated behaviors, such as conditionally executing a list of actions, handling events depending on the current state (current desktop, whether a folder is open, scroll position, etc), maybe animations too.
I regularly think at this, and the feature is starting to shape nicely. As of today, I can confirm that this will be JavaScript based and this will be an advanced feature for LLX only.
Allow one or more desktops to be used as a lock screen
It has been first requested maybe one year and a half ago… This is a bit tricky because this is not a standard Android feature, and for this reason Lightning Locker will only be integrated with Lightning, it won’t be available as a standalone lock screen (at least not soon). It will be either built-in or as an addon.
Maybe some sort of custom widget
This is a long term evolution which would help reduce excessive widget weight and template sharing. This would also hugely benefit of scripting.
Maybe at some point a poll will be great to schedule things a bit 😉

Has anyone considered developing text-based tutorials as opposed to creating videos?
I’m new to Lightning Launcher and I sense it to be a superior launcher for customizations. Along with that power there is a steep learning curve and I understand that. What I haven’t been able to find online is very much documentation and I have found the videos which I have difficulty following, probably due to no audio, little explanation as to why a step is needed, small video size and to rapid changes.
]]>It’s possible pop open panels and edit them full screen to a limited extent.
I haven’t tested the following on any device but my phone, but I figured I’d post this in case it works for anyone else
It’s not really a feature yet, more of an Easter egg at this point; but if you have a panel that has no horizontal scrolling (vertical is ok) you can make the panel pop out like a folder by swiping left on it. Long pressing puts it into edit mode it & looks just like a folder.
You can then edit the contents like a folder, but after popping it out you have to restart the launcher to be able to click on the panel contents again. I just keep a re-start shortcut next to the panel until I’m done editing it. It can be useful sometimes but at this point objects are not always positioned correctly on the pop out, and it only works for panels with no horizontal scrolling. It can be useful for hunting down objects when they seem to disappear, though.
Pictures 1. and 2. show the panel in place, 3. shows it popped out like a folder after swiping left on it.
To get horizontal scrolling panels to pop out like this is going to be a complicated programming problem & thinking about it is starting to give me one of those headaches but I’m confident Pierre is up to the challenge. ;-P
]]>Just found a site which generates android app element 9-patch pngs.
Stop points do not work for me.
#appdrawer
Is there the possibility to have the ll appdrawer within llx? I found the llx appdrawer really heavy, and it makes llx really slower than ll
]]>#panels
I have a question about edit item within panels. I can not edit items inside a panel. I long press the item but nothing happens? When I long press items outside they go into edit mode. I have recently made a factory reset and an upgrade to JB 4.3. There has been some other issues after that, but I can not figure this one out. I have not dug into panels before, so maybe I am doing something fundamentally wrong.
