I decided I’d post all of this layout. It does not require root but does require some files copying.

Firstly it requires the “Push On” icon pack ($1.66au) : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.esethnet.pushon

I have also used the drawable xhdpi file available in the long press help on folder backgrounds, and the file ‘ btn_default_normal_holo.9.png’ from within that. That page is here : http://www.pierrox.net/android/applications/lightning_launcher/help/topic.php?id=135&v=142

Each icon on the left opens a folder, all of which (except settings) use the same layout. The large icon in each is at 240%.

The only folder using a different layout is settings which has 2 more rows, and labels to the right.

Swipe up on the camera to open the images folder, and all apps to open settings>apps

Lastly you need the backup file, which is on my Google Drive here: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B3tmtJvTrQP3X0xWUVFvNHFyRlE/edit?usp=docslist_api

Copy the backup file to SDCard/lightning launcher.

Go to your ll settings Export/backup yours first 😭 and restore from backup.

Export the two styles..

1. Open the files folder and long press on a blank spot (title row is good) then save it’s style.

2. Do the same with the settings folder.

That way if you make a new folder you can import one of the two layouts depending on your preference.

The app drawer uses my preferred ‘2×9 raised tile’ layout.

My normal layout but using the Push On icon set.

My normal layout but using the Push On icon set. Extremely subtle icons that need a light background but personally look awesome.

Icons (paid) : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.esethnet.pushon

This is just a fluke wallpaper.

This is just a fluke wallpaper. A completely accidental, perfectly focused photo of the fabric of my shorts. Taken during a fat finger moment (I was switching to front camera).

Anyway I really like the way it looks, and if you do too, grab it.

Just a very small suggestion..

Just a very small suggestion..

On the ‘box’ tab when customising an item, it would be lovely if there was a series of buttons to select specific parts.

I don’t know if it is necessary, but if I change the color of something I have to manually select the centre, then each of the 4 borders, then the margins.

Then I usually select the top and left border, make them lighter, and darken the right and bottom ones.

It would be nice if there were a series of buttons of to one side that selected these areas.. Even just one to select the borders (I find I often select a margin or padding section by accident).

Or be awesome if there was a button for each of the selections (margin, border, content, all) that toggled them (eg have top and left border selected, press the border button, and it deselects those 2 border items and selects right and bottom).

This would make editing ‘the box’ a lot easier, I believe. Discuss? 🙂

Does anyone have a nice folder background that would go with this appearance? Art is not my strong point. 😆

Each folder has the same settings, slide in on left, out to right, top aligned at about 60 pixels.

I think this is a bug. Could be intended.

I think this is a bug. Could be intended.

If I assign an action to a gesture on an icon, that is copied to the new icon if I copy styles.

Example on the ‘all apps’ icon, if I swipe up I have it set to open settings>apps.

I then have the hangouts app to open a folder for email, SMS etc on upward swipe.

If I copy the style from one icon to another, the action on swipe gesture is copied too..

So after copying the style from all apps to hangouts, hangouts opens settings>apps too.

I figure since the gestures are part of the style settings on the + tab, they’re getting copied at the same time.

So it’s sorta maybe a bug maybe a feature.

This is my preferred application drawer layout.

This is my preferred application drawer layout.

Font used is ‘Caviar Dreams’.

Grid is 2x9y.

Each item has

* a ten pixel margin

* three pixel borders at 50% transparency ..

** Top+left are white, right+bottom are black.

* Background is a 25% teal.

Personally I love the look. Would anyone else think this would be a nice default appearance for the application drawer?

It would definitely give LL a distinctive appearance for the drawer. Thoughts?

Add a ‘close all folders and open folder <x>’ action?

Add a ‘close all folders and open folder ‘ action?

For example I have bottom row of buttons that open separate folders. If I press button A then B, both folders appear on top of each other. I’d like it if I clicked button A, that all other folders closed, or is there another way to do this?

I really enjoy fiddling and exploring this launcher.

I really enjoy fiddling and exploring this launcher. Aaaaanyway. I’m not overly keen on the way the dynamic text works as it is a little restrictive because you can’t (so far as I can find) display two things on one item.. Say date and battery level.

It would be really nice if instead of the current arrangement, there were internal names for these items like variables, and you use a format string.

Example:

Using text preceded with %symbols used like VB’s format string, or tasker variable names, you could just display %date to use the system format, or something like %dd %mmm %yyyyy to display 07 January 2014. The reason I suggest a % is so things like ‘Today is %mmm %d. You have %gmail unread and your battery is %batt full.’ could be entered as the format text.

I understand this is not a minor tweak but I think it would make the text elements a lot more flexible (they are good even so) and maybe from my not vast programming knowledge make handling and expanding them easier (eg adding one for signal strength would require a new variable name, rather than a new text element, but would need code to manage the value displayed either way)
