All

All,

Since the last week I spent most of my time on the project to fix bugs and stabilize the thing. If all goes well this activity will decrease (I hope!) and let me more time to work on new things. Many peoples asked  for new features the last week: what about selecting a few of them and then start a vote to decide which one to implement first ? What would be the features you would like to see in the voting ?

v8.2 is coming

v8.2 is coming

And I feel this is a good version.

Numerous bugs  introduced in the breaking v8.0 have been fixed. Lots of them were minor issues, but not all. The widget resizing problem (dashclock, google now, etc) is solved, at last !

There are also a few new features and improvements, such as a reworked home key to make it more configurable (see new actions).

I expect to be able to work on new features starting at the end of the week… more on that in another post later !

Yet another update – 8.1.1!

Yet another update – 8.1.1!

Bug fix only. Don’t worry, I won’t publish an update each day too long 😉

v8.1 update is currently rolling out

v8.1 update is currently rolling out

This is mostly a bug fixes release. Though they were harmless, these bugs were nevertheless annoying for some, so I prefer not to way too long before publishing it.

(even though some people give bad ratings when updates are too frequent, lol)

v8.0 is published !

v8.0 is published !

Updates will start to appear now, and the release will gradually be rolled out until tomorrow morning.

Thank you all for your help in making this version 8.0 a reality, again

Special thanks to Bill Surowiecki , Fabrice Fournier and gerd reuter !

v8.0 is almost there

v8.0 is almost there

Several big bugs have been spotted by members since last Saturday.

Greeaaat: a good test is a test that failed !

With all these good tests (hear: bugs), I feel like the app is getting ready for a wider audience.

As of today the list of things that changed since v7.90 is:

– fixed various crashes (half a dozen, at least)

– fixed a bug where newly added or modified items becomes unresponsive (symptom: “hey, wait, what’s this f***g app, it’s all new and it don’t even launch”)

– fixed a bug in the customize screen app picking process (symptom: “I want to configure my event to launch an app, but I can’t select it, it launches immediately” -> I told you that LL was a bit faster in this version, it launches before you need it 😉 – better compatibility with icon packs (lots of icon packs…)

– prevent the item preview in the customize screen to be more than half of the screen (symptom: “where are all my settings gone?”)

– implement kill on LLX as a restart order (see you soon Terminator…)

– rename “Screen” to “Desktop” (add some confusion now to reduce confusion later, maybe, time will tell)

No more, no less. If your bug or request is not in this list, then it means it’s not ready yet.

It is still time to get yourself heard however: I plan to release v8 tomorrow, so there is some room for fixes and improvements in the meantime ! Bug shooting season is opened !

HOW TO REQUEST FOR A NEW FEATURE

HOW TO REQUEST FOR A NEW FEATURE

Here is the preferred way to suggest new features:

– look at the list of known feature requests, maybe it is already in the pipe 🙂 – you may discuss about your idea in the “Feature Suggestion” section. Sometimes it may triggers another ideas !

– then submit a new feature request through the form

– once the suggestion has been submitted, it will reach the list of accepted feature requests.

From time to time community members are able to vote for new features. A few items are selected by members (most probably amongst priority items), then the vote can start. Feature with the highest number of votes will receive a high priority so that it can reach the store sooner.

HOW TO SUBMIT A BUG

HOW TO SUBMIT A BUG

In order to keep track of bugs, identify them and in the end remove them, please follow these steps:

– first, have a look at the public list of known bugs to check whether this is a known bug or not

– the “Bug report” is dedicated to discussions about the bug, you may explain when or how it appears, or find a temporary solution. Community members may help you to find a way to work around the bug

– once the bug has been clearly identified and is not yet in the known list, submit a bug report through the form

– once the bug has been submitted through the form, it will be added to the list of known bugs (please allow some time to do this)

Beta 7.90 is open !

Beta 7.90 is open !

here are two packages, chose the one you want knowing that:

– lightning_launcher_aio-7.90.apk : this is the launcher as you already know it. Not a lot of new things but massive internal changes that should deliver better performances when editing items. drawing engnes has been left untouched though.

– lightning_launcher_extreme-7.90.apk: the same, but with almost all existing addons merged in a single package, and an enhanced app drawer (with folders in the app drawer !)

Both app can be installed and used in parallel, but I would not recommend that because this is confusing (LLX will import LL setup on first launch and will look almost identical).

There is also the release 7.11 in the directory, should need to revert to the previous version. And be sure to make a backup first anyway !

Sorry, no beta through the Google Play system yet, I didn’t have the time to play with it yet. I am busy this evening, so I can’t promess to reply quickly.

Have fun !!!
